From the 60’s, artists are starting to show particular interest to maps, plans and other topographic data (look at certain works of Sol LeWitt, Bill Woodrow, Robert Smithson, Jasper Johns, Alighiero e Boetti, «Tavole zoogeographice» of Claudio Parmiggiani, «This Way Brown» by Stanley Brouwn, Roger Welch «Memory Maps» or Richard Long «A sculpture by Richard Long. Wiltshire 12-15 October 1969» de …).

Meanwhile the city of St Yrieix la Perche is organising «Cartes sur tables» an exhibition of Napoleonian survey maps as well as various other plans of the town and its surroundings. This exhibition will take place in the Art section of the public Library, based within the grounds of the centre of Artists books – from 2nd February to 25th May

There will be a study day centered around these two exhibitions, bringing together politicians, artists, art critics and academics. on the 15th may at centre culturel Jean Pierre Fabrègue in Saint-Yrieix-la-Perche, on the occasion of “la nuit des musées”.
