Viktorija Rybakova, 21 mai – 9 juin 2024.

Viktorija Rybakova est une artiste et designer interdisciplinaire, actuellement conservatrice du département de design graphique à la Bibliothèque de l’Université de Vilnius. Depuis 2013, Viktorija participe à des expositions internationales et à des résidences artistiques (elle a remporté le Grand Prix de la Triennale d’impression de Tallinn), a été doctorante à l’école d’art LUCA et résidente à la Jan van Eyck Academie. En 2020, Viktorija a publié une recherche artistique sur l’histoire du plastique intitulée El Plastico, the Sun that lives inside the Rock (en collaboration avec Goda Budvytyte).

At cdla Viktorija is discovering artists books scene at large, it’s history and contemporary development. Her main field of research is unique artist’s books, but at the same time she is interested in artists who write and design books or create artist’s books as an autonomous work of art. Her aim is to situate Lithuanian artist’s book scene within larger context and to learn about the influence of French culture of livres d’artistes in the early 20th century. As a result, Viktorija would like to publish a comparative article that will elaborate on specificity of artist’s books at the library of Vilnius University of which the big part belonged to Paris-based Lithuanian graphic artist Žibuntas Mikšys (1923-2013) and to see how his contemporaries in France could have influenced his artistic practise, and subsequently practise of other artists in Lithuania.
